Official Visitor's Guide
Editorial direction, writing, project management, publication production
The Project
Every year, I produce the Official Visit San Antonio Visitor's Guide from concept to publication. It's a 105-page destination guide designed in partnership with Texas Monthly and distributed to travelers planning trips to San Antonio.
It is the city's flagship print and digital publication, launching each Memorial Day weekend to coincide with the start of summer, San Antonio's biggest tourism season.
What I Do
Every January, the production cycle begins. I pull the membership report, plan editorial coverage, and start writing. I am the sole author of all editorial content in the guide.
From there, I manage the full production pipeline:
-
Plan content and coverage across 500+ member businesses organized by category
-
Write all editorial copy spanning things to do, arts and culture, dining, world heritage, and more
-
Coordinate internal stakeholder review across committees and departments
-
Direct photo selection and manage asset delivery to Texas Monthly
-
Proof the final designed publication before launch
-
Manage the digital version separately, which includes seasonal content sections refreshed four times a year — fall, holidays, spring, and summer
The print edition has a circulation of 5,000 copies distributed across the region, while the digital version averages 60,000–80,000 views annually.

The Scale
Writing a 105-page publication solo on an annual deadline, while managing partners, stakeholders, photo rights, and a coordinated digital refresh cycle, requires a level of production ownership most content managers don't experience. I deliver it start to finish every year.
